N.J. Peeters MSc (Nienke)

I graduated as a Social Worker in 2014 at Saxion Enschede. After my graduation, I worked for the organization Op Pad/Zozijn where I guided patients with acquired brain injury. Meanwhile, I started my pre-master at the University of Twente and I chose the master Health Psychology and Technology. During my internship at the University of Twente, I developed a prototype smartphone intervention for cancer patients based on self-compassion and mindfulness. This prototype was the subject of my Master Thesis as well. I conducted a qualitative study about the needs and wishes of cancer patients regarding such a smartphone-supported self-help intervention. After my graduation, I started working at the University of Twente as a lecturer Health Psychology and Technology and as a Junior Researcher.

Project plan: Stepped care self-management approach for chronically ill patients in the general practice in cooperation with Yvon van Veen (Organization Vitaal Mensenwerk) and Christina Bode (University of Twente).

Aim of the project: The implementation of a stepped care self-management approach for chronically ill patients where the focus lies on the patients’ strengths which they can use in the coping with their disease.
