About Me
Ella Velner is a PhD student at the Human Media Interaction group at the university of Twente.
Ella Velner has a bachelor degree in Communication and Information Sciences from VU Amsterdam. There, she learned about linguistics, communication forms and theories and about media and how to analyse it. Thereafter she obtained a master degree in Information Systems from the University of Amsterdam, graduating with a thesis on intonation in robot speech. In 2019, she started her PhD at HMI. There, she is doing research on speech in child-robot-media interaction and how to do this responsibly. Her supervisors are prof. dr. V. Evers, dr. K.P. Truong, and dr. R.J.F. Ordelman. Ella wants to combine the technology with the humanities side, and see how human-robot interaction can be used in a fruitful way for everyone.
