Implementing an immune system in brain organoids

The exact mechanisms of communication between gut and brain are not yet fully understood, but it is believed that the immune pathway plays an important role. Stem cell-derived astrocytes and microglia will be incorporated into brain organoids. The aim of this model is to gain insights in the role of immune mediated crosstalk between the intestine and the brain. Electrophysiological approaches will be applied to determine functioning of the brains.
