Tianchao Xie has over 10 years of experience in the energy field, with a strong focus on thermochemical processes, hydrogen production and energy storage systems. During his Master's program, he conducted research on a thermochemical solar energy storage system using an ammonia loop, alongside ammonia decomposition for hydrogen production. After completing his Master's degree, he worked for 1.5 years in a nuclear engineering institute, where he gained valuable experience in equipment design.
In January 2024, Tianchao joined the Thermal Engineering Group to continue his doctoral research, focusing on the numerical and experimental study of high-temperature thermochemical heat storage systems for industrial heating applications. Additionally, he is working towards the development of a lab-scale prototype of this system.
