Geothermal Capacity Building Indonesia - Netherlands

The Geothermal Capacity Building Programme - Indonesia-Netherlands (GEOCAP) is an international collaboration between Indonesian and Dutch entities with the goal to develop intimately linked geothermal programmes for education and training, research and subsurface databases. This Public-Private-Partnership blends the capabilities of Universities, Knowledge Institutes and Industry Partners for the benefit of all involved, and to reach the common goal of supporting the Government of Indonesia in their quest to increase utilization of their geo-energy resources. In Indonesia, there are not enough skilled personnel to fill the existing gaps in the expanding geothermal sector. Hence a nation-wide capacity building programme is needed to continue to develop the required volume of skilled workers. The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Netherlands Embassy, has started to support this effort by funding the GEOCAP Programme.

E!GEO Community of Practice

E!geo aims to bring together the education community to share experiences, learn from each other and drive innovations that can benefit ITC, partners and the broader geospatial community. We started in response to COVID-19 as we transitioned to online learning but are still faced with many challenges moving forward. This community of practice in ITC will share good practices internally and with partners on reshaping courses, communication/interaction with students and colleagues during courses, publishing course content on learning platforms.

ERAMUS+ MSC GEM

ERASMUS+ MSC IN GEO-INFORMATION SCIENCE AND EARTH OBSERVATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MODELLING AND MANAGEMENT

GEM is a two-year MSc in “Geo-information Science and Earth Observation for Environmental Modelling and Management”. GEM is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree Programme (EMJMD). Thanks to funding from the Erasmus+ programme, we can offer 60 full MSc scholarships across four intakes, starting in September 2021. Students with other scholarships or alternative sources of funding are also warmly welcomed. Ser the scholarship and finances link for details. GEM is a prestigious, integrated, international study programme, jointly delivered by an international consortium of four higher education institutions. Each partner brings expertise in different aspects of human-environment interaction challenges with applied geospatial science: Natural resources management at ITC-University of Twente, the Netherlands (and GEM coordinating partner) Ecosystems and the environment at Lund University, Sweden Agriculture and forestry at Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium Socio-ecological systems and urban planning at the University of Tartu, Estonia
