I study how synapses and neuronal networks adapt and evolve in health and disease, particularly in epilepsy and under metabolic stress, and how these changes help circuits stay stable through a process called homeostatic plasticity. I combine electrophysiology with live imaging and quantitative techniques to observe plasticity unfold in real time, from single synapses to complex networks.
My goal is to understand how the brain constantly recalibrates itself to keep its activity in balance, even as learning, development, and pathology push circuits away from their equilibrium. By linking cellular mechanisms to emergent network behaviour, I aim to uncover principles that explain both resilient brain function and its breakdown in neurological disorders.
