Wilco publishes regularly in international scientific journals and business magazines, and he is also a member of several international scientific referee-boards, and gives keynotes and (guest)lectures as well.
One of Wilco's latest achievements is the reprint of his well-known book "Culture in International Construction" as a paperback-version since June 2017, by the publisher Taylor & Francis / Spon Press, UK and USA (originally published as a hardcover-edition in 2012; W.Tijhuis & R.Fellows; "Culture in International Construction").
Another recent publication is Chapter 10 ("Culture in construction: A driver as well as a barrier for the improvement of labour situations within construction industry"), integral part of the internationally well received book "Routledge Handbook on Labour in Construction and Human Settlements - The Built Environment at Work", edited By Edmundo Werna and George Ofori, and published in December 2023 by the international publisher Routledge / Taylor & Francis Group, from UK & USA.

Research profiles
Since approx.2010-2011, the Construction Process Management lecture series, developed by Wilco and some collegues, has been taught by him to Master's students of the University of Twente, including Master's students from other (international) universities who followed this series of lectures; he was also the coordinator of this lecture series. After many years of working successfully and with pleasure, it was time for new challenges. That is why the coordination of this lecture series has been taken over by colleague Leentje Volker since 2019-2020, but Wilco still fulfills the role of guest lecturer in it at various times.
Since 2019-2020, the lecture series 'Culture in International Construction' developed by Wilco has been given by him to (international) Master's Students of the University of Twente, including Master's students from other (international) universities who follow this series of lectures. Due to increasing globalization and the increasing importance of 'soft factors' in daily 'hard' business practice - especially when one is active in multinational or multicultural environments, the importance of timely acquiring sufficient knowledge and experience in this area is increasing. This also reflects a large part of the increasing attention for this series of lectures, in which an attempt is made to find a healthy balance between theory and practice on the other, with various appealing examples, case studies and guest lecturers.
Since 2022-2023 Wilco also provides an introduction-lecture to bachelor-students, covering the topics of construction processes and projects, stimulating the students to become more aware of the built environment, and to understand the reasons why thing have been built as they are. This with the objective to stimulate the students to analyze for themselves the built environment, to become able to improve it by themselvers, as being part of present and future generations.
