Title: Displacement-Informed Urban Planning: Integrating IDPs and Refugees in Sudan’s Urban Development Frameworks

My PhD research examines how urban planning can be adapted to meet the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees within Sudan’s evolving urban landscapes. The study focuses on developing and evaluating innovative planning strategies that empower local communities, strengthen housing and land governance, and facilitate sustainable integration of displaced populations into existing urban frameworks. By utilizing spatial analysis, participatory approaches, and policy diagnostics, this research aims to create actionable solutions that support social equity, resilience, and urban stability—as well as informing national and regional policy for durable, displacement-informed development

Holding both a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Management, my academic journey has laid the foundation for my career in urban development and land governance. I have complemented these core qualifications with specialized courses in sustainable cities, housing policy, and open data practices, reflecting my commitment to continued professional growth and sector innovation. Additionally, I am proud to have earned an Environmental Management Fellowships from TU Dresden, diplomas in Peace Building from UNSSC awarded proffesional certifications in Project Management (PMP), and advanced my technical abilities through GIS applications certification with GLTN. This blend of formal education, targeted fellowships, and ongoing learning equips me to address complex planning challenges and lead strategic initiatives within the field.
