Xiaohong Huang was born in Jingzhou, China. She obtained her B.A. degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University (Xi’an, China) in 1999 with a major in English for Science and Technology. In 2000 she came to the Netherlands and joined the first class of the International Business Administration (IBA) program of the Netherlands at Erasmus University. In 2003 she received her B.S. degree in IBA, and went on for a Master study in Finance at the same university. In 2004 she successfully finished the exchange program to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and received her M.S. degree in Business Administration specialized in Finance and Investment with appellation cum laude at Erasmus University. In 2010 she obtained her PhD in Finance under the supervision of Prof. Ronald Mahieu and Prof. Marno Verbeek from Erasmus University. In the same year she joined the Department of Finance and Accounting at the University of Twente as an assistant professor of Finance.

At the University of Twente, she is engaged in various course design and teaching and her research interest expands from pension contract design and pension fund investment to emerging market corporate finance, institutional investments, and Fintech. 

She is also ready to conduct cross-disciplinary studies.
